Getting Started

Vastian is a multi-agent AI system that runs locally on your machine. After installation, all 20 agents boot automatically and Charles, your Chief of Staff, greets you.

First Steps

  • Write your intro — Create saved_prompts/intro.txt with a few paragraphs about yourself, your goals, and your work.
  • Run onboarding — Type /onboard in the CLI. Charles delegates to relevant agents who populate your knowledge base.
  • Chat naturally — Talk to Charles in the sidebar. He'll route to the right agent automatically, or use @agent_name to go direct.
  • Check the Kanban — Agents suggest tasks. Approve, assign, or reject from the board.

Architecture

Vastian uses a hierarchical agent system with a central orchestrator.

Agent Levels

  • Level 0 — Charles: Chief of Staff. Triages all requests, manages schedule, delegates to the team.
  • Level 1 — Strategic: Victor (Vision), Dominic (Strategy), Finley (Finance). High-level advisors.
  • Level 2 — Specialists: Maya, Sage, Noah, Concord, Adrian, Jake, Kiran, Rowan. Domain experts you can engage directly.
  • Level 3 — Backend: Henry, Liam, Arjuna, Theo, Elias, Orion, Felix, Maria. Infrastructure agents that work behind the scenes.

Knowledge System

  • VKB (Vastian Knowledge Base) — ChromaDB for semantic search, SQLite for structured data, Markdown files for agent documents.
  • Inbox Pipeline — Drop .txt files in the inbox. Charles triages. Agents process. Results appear in the feed.
  • Background Tasks — SQLite-backed persistent queue. Knowledge consolidation, session curation, and quality audits run automatically.

Mentor Council

Convene a virtual council of mentors (Marcus Aurelius, relationship coaches, domain experts) who deliberate on your questions and reach consensus.

Scenarios & Simulations

Victor and Concord run what-if analyses. Career pivots, stress resets, creative blocks — modeled against your metrics and values.

Persona System (Ojas)

A gamified growth framework with allies, challenges, virtues, and activities. Adrian guides your journey through interactive roleplay sessions.

Finance & Health

Finley connects to your bank accounts (Mercury, Plaid) for real-time financial insights. Health plans and spiritual growth are tracked when you're ready.

Cloud Worker

Run vastian cloud-serve on a remote server to keep agents working 24/7. The cloud worker processes the inbox, runs background tasks, and serves the mobile interface.

Setup

  • Clone the repo on your server
  • Install: pip install -e ".[mcp]"
  • Set environment variables (API keys, data root)
  • Run: vastian cloud-serve --port 4545
  • Point your custom domain (CNAME to your server)
